Carinthian Fish Tour

On this tour all motorcyclists can enjoy local fish specialities and background knowledge about fish farming. This relaxed tour is suitable also for beginners and leads us through Upper Carinthia and the center of Carinthia. The tasting of fish specialties and the guided tour is included.

The meeting point is at the tourist information office in Faak at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards we ride in the direction of the Gegendtal, past Treffen, to Arriach - the geographical centre of Carinthia. Via Arriach and past the backside of the Gerlitzen, we reach the Gurktal valley in the upper part of Carinthia. This valley is named after the river of the same name, which is considered to be particularly rich in fish and runs through large parts of Carinthia.

Via the Zedlitzberg and Köttern we reach the first fish farm of the day - the fishery of Markus Payr in Sirnitz. Here Mr. Payer gives us a guided tour of his farm and tells us about his work as an experienced fish farmer. We cross the idyllic Hochrindl and reach the next valley. At the beginning of the Nockalm Road we stop at Sigfried Gruber's "Gasthof zum Fisch Sigi". On the beautiful terrace we enjoy a fresh char from the ponds at 1300 meters above sea level.

Freshly strengthened the engines are started again and we drive back to Patergassen. From there we reach, via Bad Kleinkirchheim, the Gegendtal and Feld am See. We descend one last time and visit the fish farm "Kärnten Fisch" in Feld am See before returning to Lake Faak via Treffner Klamm and Wernberg.
