Chocolate and Castle Tour

The "Route au chocolat" will make even the toughest biker's heart melt. On this relaxed tour, past the winery on Taggenbrunn Castle, we make a visit to the Hirter Brewery and the Craigher chocolate factory in Friesach.

Riding along the southern shore of the Ossiacher See we reach the small town of Feldkirchen. Passing the Goggausee, we cross the Innere Wimitz and follow some narrow roads through Carinthia. After some time we reach St. Veit and the beautiful castle Taggenbrunn. This historic building is surrounded by vineyards and has recently been restored. In the middle of this fantastic scenery we enjoy our coffee and let this scene take effect on us.

We leave the vineyards and travel on to Friesach - the famous castle town in Carinthia. On the way we stop in Hirt and refresh ourselves for the onward journey. The Hirter Brewery is an excellent place to have lunch together. Dessert awaits us at the Craigher chocolate factory, near Friesach. A short guided tour and a tasting of the sweet delicacies will soften even hard biker hearts.

The route is not only convincing from a culinary point of view, but also has a lot to offer in terms of scenery. Through the Metnitztal valley we reach the junction of the Flattnitz and ride further into the Gurktal. The road leads us to Himmelberg on the north of the Gerlitzen Alpe. Via Innerteuchen and Arriach we reach Lake Ossiach and a short time later Lake Faak.
