Lake Wochein and the Triglav National Park
On this tour, we explore the mountain lakes of northern Slovenia that are worth seeing. Experienced bikers are sure to enjoy the bends to the Loibl Pass and a classic cream slice on the edge of Lake Wochein.
We meet at the tourist information centre in Drobollach and then cross the Rosental valley, passing the small villages along the Drau. At the small town of Ferlach, we turn off towards the Loibl Pass and after a few bends reach Slovenia. We enjoy the forests and fields behind the Karawanken and make our way to Bled and Lake Bled. We enjoy a coffee with a view of the island and the castle of Bled in the midst of this marvellous mountain lake scenery.
The next stop is Lake Wochein, a clear mountain lake in the Triglav National Park. We reach it via Bohinjska Bistrica, through the valley. We stop at this lake and take a break under one of the rock faces. A well-earned lunch with regional delicacies and the famous cream slice awaits not far away.
Well fortified, we make our way back to Lake Faak. Via roads with little traffic, a plateau to the west of Lake Bled and past Pokljuka, we reach Kranjska Gora before rejoining the main road. Over the Wurzenpass we return to Austria and a short time later to our starting point.
